The Setting Son – Garage rock, psychedelic pop and fuzzed-out melodies
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A STUDENT TO BUY A TICKET
The Setting Son have returned to the Danish music scene after more than a decade of silence!
In June 2025, the band released their long-awaited fourth album, Cul-De-Sac. GAFFA awarded it 5 stars, praising the record as a “sonic rebirth” and a “fully realized work that demands to be played loud and lived with.” The album is packed with the band’s familiar fuzzy drive, now paired with a fresh, contemporary sound.
The year before, the band laid the groundwork for their comeback with three digital demo releases (Demos and Rarities Part I, II and III), offering fans a glimpse into their early years and creative process.
The Setting Son were formed in Copenhagen in 2006 around songwriter and frontman Sebastian T.W. Kristiansen. With more than 50 homemade tape demos recorded on a 4-track, he quickly caught the attention of Bad Afro Records, who released the debut album The Setting Son in 2007. The album established the band’s signature sound: a raw blend of garage rock, psychedelic pop and catchy, fuzzed-out melodies that set them apart in the Danish underground.
The follow-up Spring of Hate (2009) presented a more cohesive band and a more mature sound, incorporating surf and neo-psych into their fuzzy universe. With Before I Eat My Eyes and Ears (2012), the band took another step forward — the single “Eat My Fear” was named “Coolest Song in the World” by Little Steven on his legendary radio show Underground Garage.
Today, The Setting Son are a cult name within Danish garage rock and psych-pop — and now you can look forward to experiencing them live in Aalborg on May 1, 2026!
