NOTICE!

We regret to inform you that Danielle Wertz has unfortunately fallen ill and will not be able to participate in the concert with Nordkraft Big Band and Remy Le Boeuf.

Fortunately, with great help from our chief conductor, Remy Le Boeuf, we have managed—on short notice—to secure the outstanding musician and vocalist Julia Easterlin, who will step in as a substitute for Danielle.

Julia Easterlin is an American artist and songwriter whose work has been recognized by The GRAMMY Foundation, The National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, and The TED Organization. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, she has collaborated with internationally acclaimed artists such as British musician Jacob Collier, Malian guitarist Vieux Farka Touré, American choreographer Bill T. Jones, Oscar-winning film composer Kris Bowers (Green Mile, Bridgerton), and legendary vocalist and composer Bobby McFerrin.

Easterlin has also made a name for herself as a composer and contributing musician in visual media through collaborations with Mason Jar Music, ANTFOOD, and massivemusic. Additionally, she has contributed to several albums, including Remy Le Boeuf’s latest release, Heartland Radio (2024).

In other words, an exceptional and experienced vocalist will be joining us, and we look forward to the collaboration and the concert!

Nordkraft Big Band invites you to a spectacular concert experience as they, together with Julia Easterlin and their chief conductor, four-time Grammy-nominated saxophonist and composer Remy Le Boeuf, present the music from their upcoming album, Silent Course.

The concert offers a unique blend of jazz, folk, and modern classical elements, featuring both newly composed works and special interpretations of songs by Joni Mitchell and Madison Cunningham. The music has been arranged specifically for Nordkraft Big Band by Remy Le Boeuf, whose cinematic and melody-driven style has been praised by The New York Times for its “breathtaking beauty.”

Remy Le Boeuf has been affiliated with Nordkraft Big Band since 2023 and is one of the most significant jazz composers of our time. Drawing inspiration from jazz, modern classical music, and indie rock, he has developed a distinctive sound that redefines the big band genre.

In recent years, Nordkraft Big Band has established itself as one of Denmark’s most active and visionary big bands, earning critical acclaim for their releases and engaging in international collaborations.

This concert is part of Nordkraft Big Band’s “Big Band Night” project, which aims to introduce big band and jazz music to younger generations. For this reason, discounted tickets are available for youth and students.

Nordkraft Big Band is supported by The Danish Ministry of Culture, Aalborg Municipality, The Danish Arts Foundation, and Spar Nord Foundation.
