Nordkraft Big Band proudly presents one of the biggest stars in Danish music.

Studenterhuset kindly reminds guests that student tickets can only be purchased by students or young people under the age of 16 and require valid student ID or proof of age at the entrance.

The audience can look forward to an extraordinary musical experience when award-winning harmonica player Mathias Heise joins Nordkraft Big Band. The concert will feature Heise’s own music, arranged in grand big band compositions, with Heise himself as the lead soloist. Part of the repertoire will be drawn from the album The Beast, described as “a revelation in Danish jazz.”

Mathias Heise Mathias Heise discovered the harmonica at the age of eight and became the world champion in chromatic harmonica playing at just 20. He has received numerous awards, including the Crown Prince Couple’s Stardust Award, and has impressed critics with his virtuoso performances. He has released several albums, including The Beast with DR Big Band, as well as projects with Mathias Heise Quadrillion and accordion virtuoso Bjarke Mogensen.

Nordkraft Big Band Nordkraft Big Band is one of Denmark’s most active and visionary big bands, known for its strong musical collaborations and innovative projects. They have released several acclaimed albums, most recently Strangers To Ourselves, which was named Album of the Week on DR P8 Jazz. The big band has worked with international stars such as Bob Mintzer, John Clayton, Sinne Eeg, and Robben Ford.

Nordkraft Big Band is supported by the Danish Ministry of Culture, Aalborg Municipality, the Danish Arts Foundation, and Spar Nord Foundation.

The concert is part of the Big Band Nights project, which aims to introduce big band and jazz music to new generations. Therefore, discounted tickets are available for young audiences and students.
