Girls in Airports x Halvcirkel = Imaginal
YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A STUDENT TO BUY A TICKET
For more than a decade, Girls in Airports have been turning music inside out – from transcendent African rhythms and psychedelic indie textures to Nordic melancholy and the dream language of jazz, perfectly suited for the late-night hours. Their unique sound has taken them on tours across the globe – from China and South Korea to the US and Brazil – establishing them as one of Danish jazz’s true flagships.
Now they meet the visionary string ensemble Halvcirkel, who have made an art of breaking free from the confines of classical tradition and have shared stages with the likes of Sigur Rós.
Together they’ve created Imaginal – GIA’s 10th album, out November 2025 – and a concert experience for the adventurous. Here, ancient folk melodies intertwine with futuristic chamber music, and improvisation opens the gates to uncharted territory.
Girls in Airports are not a band concerned with counting hours or results – they seek meaning, states of being, new questions. With Halvcirkel’s three string players in play, entirely new facets of the indie-jazz pioneers are revealed: a sound with roots in the soil and eyes fixed on the future.
Imaginal is the sound of two groups refusing to be boxed in – instead opening the door to something greater, wilder, and more beautiful.
