D/troit and Ghetto Soul live at Studenerhuset!
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A STUDENT TO BUY A TICKET
D/troit is an intense and explosive mix of pure soul, funk, and love—something rarely seen in Denmark. Their sound and vibe are so authentic, it could just as easily have been pulled straight from 1960s Detroit. And their live performances? Musically seductive, keeping the audience hooked and the dance floor alive.
It’s hard to believe that D/troit is made up of eight white men and women from Copenhagen. The band captures the sound of your dad’s overplayed favorite LP from the 1960s, while also offering a fresh, modern take on soul. Since 2013, D/troit has been honing their breathless, gritty retro soul, cementing themselves as Denmark’s undisputed soul kings.
D/troit released the album Heavy (2022), which earned 4 stars from GAFFA, describing the band as “genuine, sweaty soul and funk (…) with an authenticity and straightforwardness that makes you surrender.” The album was created alongside a lineup of sonic wizards including Wayne Gordon (Bruno Mars, Amy Winehouse), Simon Guzmán (Pharrell Williams, The Dap-Kings), Jesper ‘Yebo’ Reginal (Junior Senior, PowerSolo), and Ki!
Since their debut single on Crunchy Frog in 2015, D/troit has received praise both in Denmark and abroad for the groovy retro sound that has been their hallmark from the start. Just a year after their debut, they won “Best New Band” at the Scandinavian Soul Music Awards for the EP Do The Right Thing, which also received 4 stars from GAFFA, described as “an outrageously well-produced EP.”
The band has earned widespread recognition at home and internationally, including support from BBC Radio 6, Parliament Funkadelic, and James Brown’s band.
