This new trio blends elements of afrobeat, cumbia, and highlife with melodies that draw on the musicians' Nordic roots, where echoes of folk songs, hymns, and ballads can be heard.

With playful ease and heartfelt seriousness, they create rhythms and sounds that are both grounded and serene, yet energetic and danceable.

Gaffa reviewer Ivan Rod wrote about the band's debut: "The music as a whole is grounded, precise, and resilient, insistent and inviting; carried by the guitar, strongly complemented by the drums and bass. And beauty? That’s the word that describes the overall expression. Bushbabies, I believe, are destined to become a classic."

The music was written by Niclas during a journey to Zanzibar, where the warmth, nature, and especially the people inspired him to compose new music. His compositions reflect the beauty, openness, and presence he experienced there.

For decades, Niclas has explored new ways of playing improvised music in bands like Ibrahim Electric and Kalaha. In this trio, he takes a more meditative and calm approach. Jonathan, known for revitalizing Nordic jazz with the duo Bremer/McCoy, contributes his clear and powerful bass playing to the trio. Felix, recognized from Tabloid and Alex Vargas, ensures the music remains dynamic and vibrant with his virtuoso drumming.
