Aalborg Youth Jazz Orchestra concludes the season with a grand finale that celebrates the impressive musical talent possessed by this dynamic big band. "THIS IS AYJO" is a collaborative project where brand-new compositions and familiar tunes from previous projects come together in a unique repertoire, reflecting the ensemble's versatility and constant ability for self-development.

The repertoire is composed of fresh compositions and selected pieces from earlier projects in the season, providing a unique insight into AYJO's musical journey. The broad range of sounds, marked by the ensemble's technical skill and artistic maturity, creates a unique experience. The project also allows the orchestra's musicians to shape their own musical conclusion. Each musician has had the freedom to choose a piece from previous projects, adding a personal and authentic dimension to the presentation.

"THIS IS AYJO" is not just a concert; it is a musical narrative of a year's dedication, growth, and passion for big band music.

About Aalborg Youth Jazz Orchestra:

Aalborg Youth Jazz Orchestra (AYJO) is the newly established youth big band for the entire North Jutland region, founded in 2021 by Anton Langdahl. Since then, the orchestra has functioned as an elite youth big band and a talent development base for musicians in North Jutland. The orchestra mainly consists of young musicians from various music education programs in Aalborg and the surrounding areas who can come together to play across different music environments, ages, and genders.

The project provides young musicians with a unique opportunity to experience high-level big band music. With 18 public concerts per year in 4 projects, at various boarding schools, folk high schools, music schools, and venues, the orchestra is exposed to a predominantly young audience, significantly contributing to the national musical talent pool.

Organizationally, the orchestra is under JAZZ9TUS and is led, managed, and directed by Anton Langdahl, with a solid collaboration with the Jyske Musikkonservatorium and MGK NORD. The 19 positions in the orchestra are offered each year through an "open call" to young musicians aged 18-25 via an audition.

In addition to the mentioned collaborators, Aalborg Youth Jazz Orchestra is supported by: The Danish Arts Foundation & Aalborg Municipality.
