The band SVIN has been at the forefront of Danish progressive rock over the past decade, both as a acclaimed pioneer band and a well-kept secret. The work ELEGI was originally written for and performed with the Århus Sinfonietta in a 12-person ensemble for Aarhus Festuge in 2019. In 2022, the work was released on double vinyl released through Dacapo Records.

For this concert, the band has allied itself with the sharpest musicians from the experimental music scene and will perform the entire work in a smaller ensemble. The 10 movements of ELEGI rise from a bed of thoughtful melancholy up to a level of high energy, where the mood-creating drones, known from some of SVIN's previous releases, are connected with the sound of street percussion, ritual fervor and a clear sense of zen. It is thoroughly composed music with impulses from tight improvisation and with a wide palette of sounds and textures, both acoustic and electronic.

"In its best moments, ELEGI sounds like an attempt to find a language for grief beyond the clichés of melancholy - and thus to challenge what an elegI can even be." Rasmus Weirup - Seismograph.
