Sorte Plader's artists come together for a new concert concept fronted by the community. "We want to renew the idea of the ideal songwriting concert!"

At the music publisher Sorte Plader in Svendborg an idea emerged back in the summer of 2022, after a showcase concert at SPOT Festival. Several of the company's artists performed; solo, each on their journey in musicianhood to bring their respective songs to life. This is not a rare sight. The music scene is dominated by an individualised culture, where artists are marketed based on their own personal brand. Therefore an idea arose to curate an organised journey through all the artists' catalogues as a kind of mixtape or compilation for the Svendborgian label, where all the musicians are at the same time both front and side for each other.

“It's kind of a reckoning with the idea of “one artist in focus“. It can quickly give the impression that musicians on the same scene exist in a sort of competition with one another. But why actually recreate that myth? We let go of individuality - and act as a collective, on equal terms with each other. So we can both help each other and possibly reach a more interesting concert experience”, Emil Jantzen (Tidemand)

The concert series include the artists Line Marianne, Lasse Storm, Mads Beldring, Tidemand og Lasse Aagaard, and the director of it all, Mads Stephensen on drums. A team with numerous releases under their belt, who between them have already made their mark on the Danish songwriting scene with airplay on radio channels P4, P5 and P6 and praise from music media such as Gaffa, Side33 and Bandsoftomorrow. Sorte Plader's vision is to release Danish music, where the fervour, the lyrical universe, and the difficult emotions are in focus. It is therefore not weird that a big part of the roster consists of singer/songwriters; one-man armies who carry their projects forward in their own name, and are able to go out and play solo in a sparse setup, without tracks; the songwriter and the guitar.
