Nikolaj Nørlund released a new single in February. It's called 'Den Nye Danske Sommer' (The New Danish Summer), which features a MEW vocalist, Jonas Bjerre. It is a love song in 2023 with all its challenges, and with a new Nørlund sound created in collaboration with keyboard master Adi Zukanovic, it marks the start of a journey towards an album release in August and touring in September with a string of singles along the way.

Nikolaj Nørlund has since his solo debut ’Navnløs’ (1996) where he interpreted Michael Strunge poems, challenged and pushed his own and the audience's boundaries with impressing and very diverse projects within music and poetry. He followed up with Nye Optagelser (1997), which became his debut as a Danish songwriter.

Nørlund's experimental projects has taken him far and wide in the Danish music scene. He has among other things, made two albums in collaboration with the symphony orchestra Copenhagen Phil where modern Danish songwriting elegantly unites with a grand orchestral sound. Most recently, he has made the album ’Housewarming’ (2019) in collaboration with author Naja Marie Aidt. Solo and in band constellations, Nikolaj Nørlund is behind 20 EP and album releases.

Nørlund has made a tenacious effort to raise the bar for Danish music. Other than seven-eight ambitious releases in his own name, he has through his record label Auditorium produced and broadcast artists with a sense of the linguistic as well as the musical. In addition to his successful relaunch of the luminary Niels Skousen in 2002, Odd Numbers, Jens Unmack, Maskinvåd and Martin Ryum deserve mention.

He has previously been a member of the group Trains And Boats And Planes and is periodically active in the group with the English-language project Rhonda Harris alongside his solo career.

In 2003 he won a Danish Music Ward in the category Producer of the Year and in 2006 a Steppeulv al in the category Producer of the Year. In 2012, Nørlund received Niels Matthiasen's culture award "Kultur-Niels".
