Hand of Benediction is a quartet emerging from Copenhagen's experimental jazz scene. Their music can be described as (post) jazz, encompassing quirky loops, hypnotic melodies, psychedelic sonic excursions, as well as ecstatic improvisation. Last year, the group was nominated for a Danish Music Award for "Experimental Release of the Year," and the esteemed French magazine Citizen Jazz described their music as "metal, elevator music, noise on every floor; the music is a delightful and enthusiastic mishmash."

Their debut album received an Honorable Mention in the New York City Jazz Record 2019 and was dubbed "a lovely madness and a very remarkable statement" by Vital Weekly. Led by the Swedish guitarist Henrik Olsson, the group comprises other prominent figures on the international scene. Egil Kalman contributes with modular synthesizer and is currently based in Norway, actively involved with bands such as Marthe Lea Band and Miman. Jeppe Skovbakke, a bassist who has toured and recorded with multiple generations of Danish jazz musicians and a range of international soloists, from John Tchicai to Rhys Chatham, joins the ensemble. Rune Lohse, a dynamic drummer on the Scandinavian scene, has performed across the continent with bands like Horse Orchestra, Klimaforandringer, and MS Doom.
