Gender, upbringing, sex, decay, and pride - and an unprecedented bodily honesty; Angående Mig is out with her debut album, "MANDEN I MIG," and embarks on her first tour in three years.

Angående Mig has rapidly taken over the Danish music scene with her unique sound, blending the heavy 808 of hip-hop, the acoustic guitar of singer-songwriters, and the absolute anger and desperation of punk, forcing every listener to truly listen.

Angående Mig received acclaim and was called "the most intense new Danish pop voice" by Politiken when she released her debut EP, "KUNSTEN AT LADE SOM OM" in 2020, which was both angry and intimate. The EP included the radio hit "I love everything you hate about me" and the critically acclaimed "angry women."

In 2021, the follow-up EP, "alt det jeg ikke alligevel ikke tør sige," was released, featuring songs like "BLOMSTER I LAKKEN" and "POLYFILLA AF LIGEGYLDIGHED," showcasing Angående Mig's unapologetic artistry. GAFFA named both EPs among the top 20 Danish albums in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

Earlier this year, the first single from the brand-new album, "mor R stærk," was released, and shortly before summer, the second single, "Sommerfugl," became a must-listen on P3. Now she is presenting her highly anticipated debut album, "MANDEN I MIG," which, with a retrospective look at her provincial adolescent reality, tells a story of gender, upbringing, sex, decay, and pride. Using Christian liturgy as a metaphorical framework and with Niels Hausgaard and Anna Juul as guest contributors, Angående Mig reveals the biopolitical reality in her own rooted and gendered struggle.

In contrast to Angående Mig's previous maximalist and assertive releases, "MANDEN I MIG" is a sonically minimalist pop album and a display of the courage to embrace all extremes of the protesting inner self, even the thoughts that whisper softly in your ear. Angående Mig can be brutally honest, and this album is a fantastic representation of a new generation's album, where topics like the body, sex, and provincial pride are treated with tenderness, seriousness, and insight.

Laura behind Angående Mig states, "I wrote this album at a difficult age, where I felt very confused and rootless in my heart. So, I believe it has been a significant attempt to return to the perspective of a child - to remember where I come from. It has been a kind of investigative journalism inside myself. Especially when it comes to gender, I am very aware that I process my own history through an incredibly binary understanding of the world, the black and white, the either or. And I do this because that was the world I grew up in. My self-invented concept, provincial brutalism, has always been something I've tried to hold onto and write from. How could I exaggerate provincial pride? The greatness that a child sees in everything that surrounds them.

The title "MANDEN I MIG" has become a kind of trinity, representing both childhood's fatherly role models, the little boy inside me, and my early heterosexuality - aspects that have undoubtedly been the cornerstones in the struggle with and against my own femininity."
